Thought I would share this link http://www.goodyearbooks.com/contributorinfo.cfm?ContribID=79 These books are going for $6. a piece; Classic Middle School Literature: Mystery Study Units and Classic Middle School Literature: Adventure Study Units.

The adventure series uses Call of the Wild and 4 short stories by; Saki, Kipling, O. Henry, and Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle. The mystery series uses The Westing Game and 4 short stories by; Jacobs, Edwards, Dickens, and Poe. There are sample pages at http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/search?author=Nancy%20Roberts%20Garrity&detailed_search=1&action=Search

However I have both books in hand and there is quite a bit more than what is shown at CBD. I am impress by how it covers literary elements and the samples at CBD left the best out. The work sheets for literary element require at least a sentence to answer the question. There are black line drawings to help teach some lit terms like Oxymoron which is great for v/s kids. All work sheets are are reproducible and have teachers notes and for $6. are a steal imho. I found all of the short stories on line for free so the only expense well be the novels.

Since Listening Lit is not in our budget this year I feel like I found a gold mine and thought I would share.

Blessings,

Rebecca

I have been looking for something inexpensive and simple to use with my dd for literature and these look interesting, but not the genre my dd is interested in.

So, I browsed a bit more and found this book:

http://www.christianbook.com/Christian/Books/product?item_no=527388&event=CF

There is also a guide to follow for discussion, vocabulary and literary terms.

This is right up my dd's alley. :)

So, although I am not purchasing the ones you recommended (they do look good and are a great price!), your post helped me to find what I was looking for.

Thanks! :)
