LindaOz
I just wanted to recommend a book with great ideas for writing. It's called "The Best Ever Writing Models From Children's Literature" and covers many different styles of writing eg: anecdote, autobiography, chain-of-events story, dialogue, diary, memoirs, poetry and many more. It gives a literature example of each style of writing, some observation questions, then a writing activity based on that style. It has some great ideas for writing. We wrote 'chants' today from the model they used in the book and it was great. Even my more reluctant writer told me it was fun, and my 6yo was still verbally composing chants in her break time. Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/Best-Ever-Writing-Models-Literature/dp/0913839787/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1227831224&sr=8-1 Hope it helps someone.
