mathmarm
There are many iterations/versions of Reading Mastery, but we're leaning towards the Signature Edition. Has anyone used RM(SE) for the skills and content taught throughout the reading/literature, beyond phonics?
Lecka
My son has but I didn’t personally use it with him. There is a website nifdi.org that has a lot of info. People have used Corrective Reading on the LC board, and it has a good reputation for comprehension. I am familiar with it being popular with autism. Edit: not that it is only for autism, it is just what I am familiar with . Edited April 1, 2019 by Lecka
mathmarm
Thanks for chiming in! I'm particularly interested in learning more about the programs upper levels--grades 2-5 in Signature Edition, they focus on reading to learn, not learning to read. How did your son like the program? What grade(s) did he use it for? Do you see him applying the reading comprehension skills to other things that he reads? There doesn't seem to be a lot information readily available for it but I've read as many websites and blogs on RM as I could find. All the research papers I've seen have been very positive, but the price is high. I guess that's why it's not more popular with home schoolers, lol. From what I can tell you HAVE to have the presentation book and the student materials--but the teachers guide is optional, right?
