dragons in the flower bed
If your children are sensitive to gory violence, never. If not, the HH can be appreciated by ages four to about ten or eleven. I'd place them at a fourth grade reading level, equivalent to James and the Giant Peach or the first Harry Potter book. Mandarinmom
My daughter is almost 6 (in three months). She reads a few Horrible histories the Egyptians series. I don't see any violence there. The murder and death are the life facts, the child can relate to it. I would consider violense - if there is a description of how it happens. There is nothing like this in the series. She learned a lot from these books.
Mandarinmom
I purchased the books from UK site of the books depository. It came $6.33 per book with free shipping, delivered within 7 days. Cheaper than amazon, and all brand new.
Elinor Everywhere
My dd started reading them at 9, and devoured as many Horrible Science books as she could (she prefers science to history). She read an entire library's worth last year when we lived in Hong Kong (she was 10). Now at 11, I see signs that she is definitely slowing down, but she still rereads her favorites that we bought overseas and brought home with us.
