mamamoose
Not for him to read, necessarily because he is dyslexic, but they can be, if 2nd grade level (or thereabouts)...we are studying ancients. He's VERY CHOOSY.
wendyroo
My 2nd grader loves Choose Your Own Adventures. Not exactly great literature, but he reads them as fast as we bring them home from the library. Wendy
gracie01
How about the "You Wouldn't Want to be" series? My third grader loves them, and they have enough pictures to keep my 5yr old interested. EndOfOrdinary
Percy Jackson. Not the second series, but the first. The one beginning with the Lightning Thief. Percy is dyslexic too, only it is because he is really a demigod. Reading Ancient Greek is in his DNA, so English is difficult. He doesn't have ADD like they said, he just has God-like reflexes and this makes calming mself or his mind difficult. Ds devoured these in 3rd grade. They fit with Ancients oretty fabulously too. Raifta
My 3rd grader was all about graphic novels when it came to reading on his own, although he did read the assigned chapter books. For graphic novels, he loved Amulet, the Explorer series, the Percy Jackson graphic novel versions, Kid Beowulf, the Wizard of Oz graphic novels. He also read the Catwings series by Ursula LeGuin, the Diary of a Wimpy Kid books, and some early Gordon Korman books on his own.
