SparklyUnicorn
Trying to figure out what is next for science. Almost done with the Bio stuff. I have Saxon Physics already. DS wants to do that. I don't have a problem with that per se. Probably he'll take physics fairly soon at the CC, but sure would maybe be nice to get some practice on the concepts ahead of time. I just don't know if it is considered really awful...ok....what.... Looks very dry, but that's how he likes it. We have experience using Saxon A 1, 2 and some of advanced math. So we aren't unfamiliar with how Saxon is and it worked out well for my kid.
StillStanding
My oldest used it. It was O.K. It is mostly just math problems. There is not much to the conceptual part.
regentrude
I find the order of topics extremely disjointed and am not convinced that this jumping around creates a good conceptual understanding and a cohesive picture of physics. ETA: if he is going to take physics at CC anyway, he could read through Conceptual Physics beforehand. Guest
You need to realize that Saxon Physics is a MATH program, not necessarily a science program. It is light on the conceptual and heavy on the mathematical. ETA: I'm a devout Saxon user, from 1st grade to calculus, but we did not use it for our physics curriculum. MarkT
Look through the HS Physics pinned thread there are better choices out there.
