gardenmom5
which is your favorite publisher/version of bach's cello suites transcribed for viola? I've decided I'll get her one. she's an intermediate player - but shar has 6 - 8 versions, and I've no idea if it even matters. thanks
Crimson Wife
My daughter's teacher had her get the Watson Forbes version with a green cover. I have no idea how it compares to other versions, however.
zaichiki
I suggest you ask the teacher which edition (s)he prefers -- it usually matters to them. Dd's previous teacher used Watson-Forbes. Her current teachers (and other viola teachers in her music school) use Peters. I think the only differences between the editions are in the bowings, but not being a musician, I don't know for sure.
gardenmom5
thanks. I've ordered one, as well as a few others. I can't ask a teacher as the previous teacher we used has moved away. and dd doesn't currently have a teacher. she bought a new viola last spring, after not having one for a number of years. zaichiki
If she doesn't have a teacher, then I'd venture to guess that it doesn't matter which edition she uses. (Does SHE have a preference when it comes to editions in general? Dd's teachers always prefer the urtext editions, but a friend's teacher always prefers the international edition.)
