Daytona, Ormond Beach Area

We are considering a vacation during Christmas break. Was this area greatly affected by the hurricane? I was thinking hotels right on the beach might be more affected than those inland. We are going to stay there but mostly drive off to do things, St. Augustine, Orlando, and Kennedy Space Center.

Thanks for any information or tips!

We really want to do Washington, DC, but we're concerned weather would be difficult. We are coming up with an alternative non-cold plan, just in case!

Of those areas, St. Augustine was hit the hardest. The rest are fine. Most of St. Augustine businesses and hotels and such are fine as well now. It's the homeowners that are having trouble. But please, do come! They need the tourist dollars, for sure. They really really want people to vacation in the area right now.

We've never been to Daytona because we just aren't big beach people. I like the beach during cold weather, though, more than the hot, sticky summer.  Any recommendations of areas to stay or things to do?

Hmm...If you aren't big beach/tourist/etc people I'd spend your time in St. Augustine. There is the fort, lots of little shops, restaurants, etc plus some great Bed and Breakfast type places.
