Science curriculum for 7th similar to Moving Beyond the Page

I really like the looks of MBtP, but the price....not sure I can swing that. So is there a similar science program out there? Something primarily lit based with plenty of hands on activities, but that isn't too parent intensive. Preferably secular.

Bookshark science is similar right down to the price, but I think you can buy the teacher's guide separate and get the books at the library to save money.

We are trying Guest Hollow Anatomy this year. It is appropriate for middle school. Not all of her curricula are secular, but this one is.
