goldenecho
Anyone have a great suggestion for a unit study for force, motion and energy (or just force and motion...or just energy, etc) at a 6th grade level (11 year old)? Or a good book that I could use to make my own unit study? I'm also teaching an 8 year old/2nd grader and it would be nice (though not essential) if I could adapt at least some of the lesson so he could participate too. cintinative
text book? Maybe Prentice Hall Science Explorer Motion, Forces & Energy? https://www.amazon.com/SCIENCE-EXPLORER-MOTION-FORCES-STUDENT/dp/0132011573/ref=sr_1_2?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1467764130&sr=1-2&keywords=prentice+hall+science+explorer+motion+forces+and+energy I used it as a reference last year for a physics class and it is well done. Also, there is a Physics for Schoolhouse Teachers by Jim Mueller (if you can find it online). He also has something called Bite-Sized Physics some people on here have recommended. http://www.sciencejim.com/books.html I also really like The New Way Things Work https://www.amazon.com/New-Way-Things-Work/dp/0395938473/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1467764187&sr=1-1&keywords=the+new+way+things+work Have you looked at the Disney Imagineering videos?
cintinative
Oh, and my kids loved these videos. My kids are younger but I think they would still be a nice supplement for 6th. Eureka! Science videos (each are pretty short)

I think the Bite-Sized Physics might be exactly what I needed...and I bookmarked those videos (from your 2nd post). text book?
