bettyandbob
I'm working on a job application. It asks for 3 professional references. I have 3, but since I already work at the facility where I am applying for a more permanent position one of the 3 I have is the person who would be doing the candidate selection. So, I think I need a different person. Would it be OK to list the scout master of my son's BSA troop--I am the assistant scout master and some of the things I've done with the troop would be relevant to the job. However, it's not immediately of obvious how BSA stuff applies and there's no room to explain why this guy is a relevant reference.
shage
Yes. I served as the only professional reference for a robotics cocoach reentering the workforce. It was fine. I would think through how the reference could best speak to your credentials, and make sure he will do that. No need to explain on the application.
