umsami
Found this interesting. Many, many I have not read. http://qz.com/602956/these-are-the-books-students-at-the-top-us-colleges-are-required-to-read/?utm_source=atlfb
Guest
I've read quite a few of those, especially with my first degree pursued being English. Several we hit in history courses and philosophy/civics/econ as well. Some I've never heard of though :) Edited January 28, 2016 by Arctic Mama

Jane in NC
Many were part of my son's Well Trained high school education. I am disappointed not to see more Shakespeare though.
Guest
So, I'm kind of curious (not that I'm asking for an answer from anyone) how this list would compare with top books studied at these same universities 10, 20, 50 and 100 years ago. OBVIOUSLY the newer books would not have been written. But maybe instead of the exact book comparison (which is impossible), I wonder how the genre and/or topic comparisons would stack up. If I had to guess, I would bet there would be less business and more classic fiction or poetry and more history. I'm musing on this, wondering if the top books at the top universities are in any way a reflection of the destination sought by those who teach and those who study.
