prairiewindmomma
After two moves, my Billy bookcases are shot. The flimsy paper backing has come loose and is torn from the nail trim used to put it in place. Some of the board shelves have warped slightly. I'm debating about whether to have the movers move them with our next move. Our new house is more contemporary is design and the trim is darker. My budget is a Target/IKEA kind of budget...especially as I'll be buying 8-10 bookcases. Any favorites, reviews, or recommendations? The Threshold Carson shelf in espresso looks appealing... http://www.target.com/p/threshold-carson-5-shelf-bookcase/-/A-14550115#prodSlot=medium_1_2 Regissor and Hemnes also look interesting from IKEA... Jayne J
I have two of the Carson shelves--the 5 shelf version--and really like them. The shelves are surprisingly sturdy and after 6 or so years of pretty heavy use are still straight. Each shelf has a front piece that runs at a 90% angle to the shelf itself and seems to give extra strength. My only complaint is that I'd love a taller version. I could fit at least one more row of books!
ksr5377
I would probably go with the Hemnes since it's solid pine.
