Jane Elliot
I've used Jacobs geometry with several kids. Some loved it; some hated it. I can't figure out what the difference is. Is there a way to predict whether or not Jacobs will be a good fit for a particular student?
VANURSEPRAC
I gave my 12 y/o D Jacob's Alg 1 text and Foerster Alg 1 . She preferred Foerster I asked her why. She said Jacobs took to long to get to the point. She is impatient and doesn't have the best sense of humor or child wonderness. She is more business like. she wants something very to the point. I am considering using DO geometry and He uses Jacob's geo 3rd edition. So I am not sure how that will go. But we both love DO videos and that is the reason we are considering DO. I also showed D12 Jurgensen and Jacobs both 2nd and 3rd. She preferred Jurgensen because it was straight forward like Foerster. Sadly Jurgensen is not an option as I need DO type videos for it and have not found it as of yet.
Jane Elliot
We love Derek Owens videos, too. Some of my kids would never have made it through Jacobs without him.
yvonne
I also showed D12 Jurgensen and Jacobs both 2nd and 3rd. She preferred Jurgensen because it was straight forward My boys had the same reaction looking at Jurgensen & Jacobs. I didn't want to teach geometry, so we used Wilson Hill's online class that uses Jurgensen.
