GypsyHomesteader
I need free online resources for Biology. Specifically microbiology if at all possible but regular is perfectly fine. I want to give my oldest some research subjects to write some papers and do some general studying. Help?! :)
StillStanding
Did you look at the pinned "Home School High School Biology" post at the top of the High School Forum page? http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/468303-homeschool-high-school-biology/ Or doing a "Search"? We are doing regular Biology with Campbell.
GypsyHomesteader
I did look at the pinned thread. The resources, while awesome and long, were all paid sites or textbooks. I can't get books shipped to me right now (the downside of living in an RV) and can't afford to get the books anyway. I did try to search but I didn't find anything that fulfilled what I needed. :)
KarenNC
Check out the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's free resources.http://www.hhmi.org/educational-materialsI used some of their labs this year for bio. Googling "free microbiology high school online" turned up a number of hits that might be worth checking out.

Dmmetler
Also, look for open access journals. There are quite a few of them in biology. If you find an article you want that's behind a paywall, try going to the primary author's web page at their institution (usually a university). Often you'll find a free version linked there. My DD reads a lot of biology journals and has learned a lot.
Alessandra
E.O. Wilson's multi-volume Life on Earth is available as a free iBook download. High school level bio in a super engaging format. Also, books from CK-12 Foundation are free.
