How well does CC prepare students for stand tests?

Recommended Posts

Really, whatever curriculum you are using doesn't matter. If you really are worried, about your student taking a standardized test, spend 10 min/day for a few weeks before the test days and go over a test prep booklet specific for that test; that lets your student practice transferring answers from the test booklet to the answer sheet, filling in bubbles correctly, and learning the tricks and tips to test-taking. That's all you need.

You don't want to start moving towards curriculum that "teaches to the test", as no real learning happens that way (not to mention that tests and educational standards are constantly changing, so teaching to a test is an exercise in futility). Rather, teach with *whatever* curriculum really helps your student to LEARN, and the standardized test will just help YOU the teacher see if there are any "gaps" you may need to address in the future.

Really, it's okay to NOT worry about standardized tests. There is no money riding on the test at this stage (8th grade). ;) BEST of luck in your educational journey! Warmest regards, Lori D.
