AimeeM
Where can I find a list of markers for school-aged children? Specifically, age 6-ish? I'm only finding the toddler marker/evaluation forms. Also, if you have a child who has both medical issues (of the more serious nature) and also some autism/asd markers, where do you draw the line at deciding whether or not to have an evaluation? For the child I'm specifically referencing, I am torn because I do sincerely believe he has enough on his plate right now with absolutely-non-negotiable appointments with medical specialists... the idea of adding OT (which we know he needs) and any other evaluations or therapies is daunting - he has little energy as it is. Also, we are aware that some of the seeming "markers" he has, regarding ASD/spectrum, may simply be his normal because of the types of medical issues he has. zoobie
I would get the eval because knowledge is power. I'd wonder if the medical overlap could be significant too? Here's a summary of the DSM criteria: https://www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism/diagnosis/dsm-5-diagnostic-criteria
Crimson Wife
This list says "teenagers" but really it should be for anyone older than preschooler: http://raisingchildren.net.au/articles/autism_spectrum_disorder_signs_teenagers.html
