arcara
Hi, My dd is finishing 9th grade. She recently took the Stanford Acheivement test and scored lowest in spelling (still in the average range, though). We've always known that she is not the strongest speller even though she went through the entire AAS program. Should she continue studying spelling next year or should we call it good enough? If she should continue spelling, what materials do you suggest? TIA!
1Togo
We have used Phonetic Zoo with good results for high school students who have not mastered spelling rules. It takes 15 minutes per day. The IEW website has a placement test. After PZ, IEW offers advanced spelling curriculum. For us, vocabulary comes from writing, reading, and Latin. Mom22ns
I wouldn't bother with a spelling program, but I might consider a vocabulary program and have her work on spelling within that context. Of course, she should work on her spelling in all her writing as well.
