bettyandbob
for years dd was focused on one goal. She has dropped that. Since then she has researched and considered a wide range of possibilities, but really can't settle on one field. This is making narrowing down university study a little difficult. Did you use an instrument online? Did you use a book?
cjzimmer1
I just used a few of free online career assessment tests. I don't even remember which ones specifically, just googled a few and had DS take them. Based on his interests in certain topics, likes/dislikes for certain situations etc it spit on some ideas. After taking a several of these, we could see quite a bit of similiarities and talked about the different things they suggested. Once we talked about what some of the different fields involved (because DS had no ideas what any of the career choices involved), it was pretty easy to eliminate things that wouldn't be a good fit for him. From there we had a very short list and then DS picked a couple of general ones. That's what we are using as our starting base for college searches but are trying to stay away from any schools that are too specialized in case he changes his mind.
