Tohru
Is there such a thing? We loosely use FIAR for our Geography studies, however I'd love to have a guidebook or website that lists really good picture books by geographical location. For example, Ferdinand is an excellent book and a springboard to discuss Spain, Wee Gillis takes us to Scotland. Ideas?
mmasc
Well, I don't have a list or website, but I do have another picture book to recommend that would fit your criteria-How to Make an Apple Pie and See the World. It was a wonderful book and springboard for discussing many places.
Miss Tick
Search for "state books for children", or just "books by state". I found a couple lists that might work. Perhaps they will also have a "countries" one.
sarahjokim
We're doing geography this year with our 5-year old. I have a Google doc of our plans and will be posting our book choices for each country as we go. Here's Russia so far: http://www.wellreadkid.com/what-we-read-russia/ There's also this Google doc someone posted on Facebook recently: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1xqZXIiDBS8ENb4G2uuY6fZPEYzpUEkaSUAetiucfrIg/edit?hl=en_US
Kfamily
I like to use Homeschool Share for this age...they used to include FIAR books, but have removed them. The books they use build on the same ideas as FIAR. Here is the geography connection link: http://www.homeschoolshare.com/connections__geography.php

That sounds really familiar - I'll have to check it out from the library. I have this book by the same author on hold right now (also Russia).
