Catherine Posted January 29, 2015 Share Posted January 29, 2015 I despaired of ever seeing my youngest become a reader-meaning, not know HOW to read, but to choose to read in his free time, or read books that were not comic books, by choice. Yet, at 13 1\2, he is suddenly reading a lot for fun. REAL books, even challenging ones. I have continued to RA to him all these years, and he's gone along, though reluctantly at times. That isn't what did it though. I credit a home school book club. I was talked into it. We have limited time and since he reads plenty that I assign, I didn't see the point. But he has loved this, reads the books ahead of time unprompted and loves the discussions. Knock me over with a feather! I am so pleased.
