BarbecueMom
DH has a work trip coming up and needs new dress clothes, a well-fitted suit, and shoes so he doesn't stick out like a sore thumb in the NYC Financial District amidst the big wigs. I know that nice, high quality shoes are important, but they need to be comfortable and have good support, as he has a lingering back injury. Stuff that doesn't wrinkle badly in luggage would be great. He already wears dress pants and shirts every day, but he'll wear them until they're holey and threadbare before realizing he needs new stuff. And it's whatever he can find on the Kohl's clearance rack. We're a little out of our league here. So where should we shop? What brands should we look for? We don't have an unlimited budget, but I'm fine with spending what's needed to have him dressed properly.
zoobie
I'd go to Brooks Bros or Nordstrom for a NY Financial District meeting. They both tailor in house. Brooks Bros no wrinkle shirts are great. Pack the suit in a dry cleaning bag (on the hanger!) with no wiggle room in suitcase for fewest wrinkles.
Aiden
My husband really likes Jos A Banks. Their suits hold up well and can be reasonably priced if they're on sale. Their Traveler shirts also pack well.
kitten18
What stores do you have? I would suggest Nordstrom or Macy's (if you have one with a large men's department).
catz
To me, it would be depend how much he will use it afterwards. I wouldn't buy an incredibly high end suit for a one time trip. You can buy a classic, nice looking black suit (which could be worn for weddings and funerals) many places (like JC Penny) and update it with a nicer shirt and tie. BarbecueMom
We have pretty much any store nearby (Nordstrom, Macy's, Jos A. Bank, etc.). I would guess he'd need a suit at least a couple times per year. He's only been there a few months, so this is the first time he's needed a nicer wardrobe. His location is quite a bit more laid-back than some of the others.
