I saw it 15 years ago and I rented the dvd -- but I'm still hazy on the historical context, themes and motifs. I always found it a bit creepy. But the music is haunting, for sure. I have not attempted to read the book. What is the point of the story? I'm wanting to prep the kids a bit so they can follow along.
