DragonFaerie
I'm thinking I'd like to devise an anatomy and physiology course for myself, and I could use book recommendations. Someone said in another thread that going through a book on medical terminology first would be a good idea, so I'd love book recs for that, too. Right now I have these in my cart on Amazon. Anatomy, Physiology, and Disease with the Student Workbook (though I'm less interested in the "disease" part) Medical Terminology Are they good? Are there better ones? What do y'all suggest? TIA! DragonFaerie
Have you checked out straighterline.com? I haven't, but I'll check it out. Is it online courses or something? I'm really more looking for books, but I'll go take a look. Thanks!
mysticmomma
It is self paced online courses. Pretty cheap.
DragonFaerie
Thanks for the info, but I'm really just looking for good books and workbooks to use.
CrunchyGirl
Not a book but I think Great Courses has some sort of A&P course (videos). Maybe see if you can get them used and cheap on Amazon ?
Reefgazer
I agree with this for medical terminology. For A+P, I'd use Saladin or Marieb, along with Netter for diagrams/pictures. Have you checked out straighterline.com?

I'm not familiar with those. Do you have links perhaps?
ocelotmom
The Anatomy and Physiology coloring books are good (the ones aimed at adults), especially if it fits your learning style. They contain text information as well, and I found them to be an useful summary even though I'm not really a coloring person.
mysticmomma
This was my book a while back. You can get them used. http://www.amazon.com/Human-Anatomy-Physiology-5th-Edition/dp/0805349898/ref=sr_1_15?ie=UTF8&qid=1405344357&sr=8-15&keywords=marieb+anatomy+and+physiology Have you thought about seeing what your library has? I think most texts are going to be similar.
DragonFaerie
Thanks. Ours is a small library so they don't have much. Besides, I like to mark up my books. :D Thanks for the feedback, y'all. I think I'm all set now.
wendybern
I got the Pearson AP&D book you listed, and the workbook, for dd to use this coming year. It looks terrific. They also have a free student website you can register for, with lots of reinforcing activities, quizzes, flash cards, etc. And if you contact Pearson, they will give you access to all of the instructor materials as a homeschool teacher. ETA, they also have a similar book, A&P (without the "disease").
