ammv15
I just got it the older version used. I haven't had a chance to look at it but I read that Sonlight recommends skipping a few chapters due to The Big Bang theory. How many chapters doI skip? kiana
I would recommend skimming through the first few chapters and see which ones conflict with your religious beliefs.
HS Mom in NC
I don't think anyone should skip something without reading it for themselves even if someone who shares their religious views recommends it. Ch. 1 How Things Started includes pages 3-8. It includes a modified version of The Big Bang Theory but it does say, "...there was a time when there was NO WORLD AT ALL! [i'm copying exactly from the book including all caps when used.] No world at all! Only the stars, and God, who made the stars..." It's followed by a simplified version of The Big Bang Theory. Then there is a very, very simple set of steps in evolution that don't refer to humans being directly descended from apes. It simply states that mammals came along and then humans.Ch. 2 picks up with hunter gathers and how archeologists have found simple tools and the bones of those who made them. "We have also found the bones of people the people themselves, who died several million years ago, long before anyone began to write down history." Ch. 3 discusses the discovery of fire (assumed to be an accident) and humans using metals to make tools getting through the Bronze and Iron Ages in a page or so. Guest
My 2007 Sonlight B+C skips Ch. 1-3 and has you start reading Ch. 4.
kiwik
Why not just read them and state that your views are different?
