Scholarships

Recommended Posts

Mostly, I'd suggest avoiding those types of scholarships. Even those that are legit, SO many people apply, that the odds of getting one are about the same at winning the powerball lottery. JMO: far better to focus efforts on actually attainable scholarships:

- awarded by the college the student applies to/is accepted to

- scholarships on the lists handed out at the local public high school guidance office

- awarded by local organizations and groups

- scholarships in the "big books" at the library (Kaplan Scholarships, by Schlachter, Peterson's Scholarships, Grants & Prizesetc.)

For an overview of the scholarship search process, check out post #5 of this thread: "Preparing for college: what scholarships/grants to apply for?", which is in the pinned thread ("Transcripts… Scholarships/Financial Aid, College Prep/Applications… -- links to past threads here!") at the top of the high school board -- ost #5  has loads of links to past threads on scholarships chock full of helpful info and advice.

Happy $$ hunting! Warmest regards, Lori D.
