momto2Cs
How does this look? This is for my dd11. Late/slow reader, loves animals, stories, and biology. Language Arts Grammar-Land, along with these great free worksheets, alternating weeks with Ruth Heller's World of LanguageA Brave Writer approach to writing, using various books/curricula as a "toolbox"She will also work on building more fluency and ease with reading Math Saxon Math 6/5 Family Studies/Afternoon Basket Daily Literature Exact titles to be determined, probably a Hobbit/LoTR study w/related lit. Once-a-Week History We will finish up volume 1 of The Human Odyssey, and move into volume two. [Once-a-Week Logic The Snake & The Fox: An Introduction to Logic] This is a MAYBE. We might sub in Nature Studies here! Once-a-Week GeographyWe'll finish up The Complete Book of Marvels, and then move into Seven League Boots: Adventures from Arabia to Abyssinia Once-a-Week Math/Science ReadingI think we'll alternate living books on math and science in the Afternoon Basket, among them String, Straightedge & Shadow, and Frost Hollows & Other Microclimates Everything Else/Personalized Studies (subect to change if her interests change a lot, which I somehow doubt) I had come up with this study, which we will probably still use, more or less. In a quick recap, I would like to possibly read the following books with her...Fiction: Hitty: Her First 100 Years A Girl of the Limberlost The Dragon in the Cliff The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate The Secret Garden Gone Away Lake Non-Fiction, Science: All About Biology All About Moths & Butterflies All About The Insect World All About Animals & Their Young Additional All About titles, Scientists in the Field, etc. Non-Fiction, History/Social Sciences: Girls Who Looked Under Rocks: The Lives of Six Pioneering Naturalists Girls Think of Everything: Stories of Ingenious Inventions by Women Girls Who Rocked the World: Heroines from Joan of Arc to Mother Teresa Additional biographies/history-related books as things spark her interest Now to finalize 8th grade for the boy. :glare:
Ethel Mertz
What you have looks fine. I didn't see anything, though, for spelling or vocabulary.
momto2Cs
What you have looks fine. I didn't see anything, though, for spelling or vocabulary. She's got a great vocabulary, so I don't worry about that. Spelling we address as part of her reading, but we could probably do more there.
