ProudGrandma
I have a 13, 12 and 9 year old. We have been doing Evan Moor's Daily Geography for years. It's good on map skills but I want to add more learning as far as cultures, foods, clothings, music etc...but in a independent sort of learning. We just don't have time to add another "sit down together" class right now. Does something like that exist for kids this age??
sagira
The 7 Continents series (I believe it's Evan-Moor too) is great for this. DS10 does it independently and is learning a lot. He even asked me to do more of the series. He's doing Asia this year.
mc26
We are using Discovering the World of Geography. I downloaded the ebooks from Carson Dellosa and then printed them out for both kids.

BatmansWife
I'm not sure if these cover topics like cultures, clothing, food, music, etc...but you might want to take a look at the new Legends and Leagues. You could e-mail them and ask if they cover things like that. I like how it zones in on North, South, East, and West. You can find them at Rainbow Resource too. 1pageatatime
I've been eyeing the Geography from Memoria Press; it seems to get mostly positive reviews.
ProudGrandma
this looks very map oriented....is it...or does it just look that way? Not that is bad....just want to know what it is. Also, would you do US one year, Geo 1, one year and geo 2 the next year? or does it take longer than a year to go through the book? Also, is it teacher intensive or not? I am looking for something mostly independent.
Dolphin
I just had this problem a few weeks ago and posted on the logic board. There were some great suggestions there. I ended up getting Memoria Press's Geography. It doesn't hit on music, but it is more in depth on culture etc... http://forums.welltrainedmind.com/topic/507701-ok-i-am-dropping-the-ball-with-geography/

I am looking for something mostly independent. It is completely independent with my 4th grader. I just scheduled it out to take a year each. About 2-3 countries a week and she does it once a week.
