Night Elf
I need a new laptop and so many have touch screens. Do they still work the regular way as well, or is it key to the laptop to use the touch screen?
Cammie
I have an Asus touch screen laptop. It works both ways. I tend not to use the touch screen feature...just doesn't feel as natural and it is really too small to use it comfortably.
Night Elf
Yeah, I'm not impressed with the touch screen feature either, but so many of the available styles are touch screen. If I avoid it completely, I'm limited myself to what I can choose. I hate buying new laptops. Mine is 3.5 years old and there is a problem that we've been unable to identify. We think it's a hardware issue and I don't want to mess with it anymore. Ds17 needs this laptop for school and it going blue screen when he's in the middle of an assignment is beyond frustrating. And his work came to a standstill when the Geek Squad had it on two occasions. So, it's a new laptop for me. My DH works for HP but their discounts are really not that great. I have a Toshiba right now that I love. I don't know what I'm going to get this time around. So much is touch screen!
magnificent_baby
I had a touch screen for a few weeks, returned it though. Had something wrong with the hard drive. I did not care for it at all. I was constantly going from touching, then back to the keyboard, and it was felt so time consuming to find what I wanted while learning Windows 8. Got a non touch screen and very happy with it. CAMom
I have one. Mine's a Thinkpad. It works just like my old laptop. I usually the touchscreen occasionally but tend to use it the way I always have. I have had a hard time getting used to Windows 8, though. :glare:

I think it's another satellite. Love it, and it's my second one (the old Toshiba still going strong, but needed a 2nd one in the house). Made me hate the HP even more so after returning it! Just Another Jen
I just got a lenovo. It's a laptop and when you fold the screen back it disables the keyboard and acts as a tablet. I really like it- but it is also my first new computer of my own ever. Btw- I like windows 8.
Mergath
Dh's new Asus has a touch screen he never uses. It's nice for dd to play on, though. Many kids programs are much easier to use with a touchscreen.
