socody
I really like the looks of Elemental History Adventures in America and I was thinking of doing that with my 1st grade dd next year, but I was thinking if there was something like that that was like an overview of all 4 years of the history cycle that would be really cool. SeaConquest
History Odyssey?
momma2three
History Odyssey is divided into the WTM-style 4-year cycle. I do recommend it, though. We haven't been great about doing it, but when we do get around to it, DD enjoys it and I think it's providing a good background.
socody
That would still take me 4 years. I'm looking for something that only takes 1 year. I will start the 4-year thing in 2nd grade.
TarynB
You might like The Complete Book of World History as a spine/high-level overview for use during one year. It's aimed at grades 4+ but I don't see why you couldn't use it as a read aloud and jumping off point for areas of interest. http://www.amazon.com/Complete-Book-World-History-Books/dp/1561890898/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1390612843&sr=1-1&keywords=complete+book+of+world+history
Murrayshire
I agree with using The Complete Book of World History...... Maybe add A Child's History of the World as a read aloud.....along with Sonlight Core B & C readers. http://www.amazon.com/Childs-History-World-Calvert-School/dp/B00ALN6E42/ref=pd_sim_sbs_b_2
