Susan in TX
I seem to spend way too much time paying the monthly bills, entering all of our expenses into Quicken and reconciling accounts. I pay the bills twice a month and I use online bill pay so actually paying the bills only takes a few minutes, but getting everything recorded and reconciled takes hours. Is there an easier way? Prairie~Phlox
I don't know, but we keep track of EVERYTHING (dh has a business so we have to) and I just do it as it clears and it doesn't really take that long. All bills are paid on our banks website using Bill Pay, I just make sure it set up to pay. Phlox
AmyCC
Our situations sound similar: enter into Quicken, reconcile account, pay bills using online bill pay, etc. The only thing that's different is I only pay bills once a month. Maybe this cuts down on the time a bit?
Basketmaker Amy
I use mvelopes (mvelopes.com). I enter my budget in it and when things come out of my bank, it automatically pulls them into "mvelopes". I then assign them to an "envelope" or match them to manual entries I have already made. It only takes me about 2-3 minutes a day. At the end of the month, I just reconcile it online...takes 5-10 minutes. I love it! I love it especially because I can see my budget "live"...not after the fact.
Susan in TX
about five minutes Okay, what's your secret? Do you use budgeting software? Do you record expenses or do you just pay the bills and not bother with it? Susan in TX
