G5052
Our Aikido dojo always does this, and my teens always enjoy it. I sit in the lobby and read, which is nice too! Do other martial arts do this? Sensei said that it is an Asian tradition, but I'm just curious.
kiana
I had an Aikido one as well, but it started at 11:30 pm.
Truscifi
Our dojo (kenpo) doesn't do one, but dh and I were just talking about checking out a once a week arnis/kali group that meets on Wednesdays and is still on for tonight.
KarenNC
The aikido dojo my husband and daughter attend celebrates Oshogatsu the first Saturday of January with a special class, 1000 sword cuts, and testing for those due for it--my daughter's up this time. My husband is actually going to do a retreat for the full weekend (Fri-Mon) in a cabin in a local campground, with doing some form of water misogi in the lake there (probably limited, due to low temps). We'll meet him at training on Saturday and he'll have lunch with the group from the dojo before going back to the campground.
