gratefulmother
Has anyone ever used the microwave to seal a jar that did not seal properly the first time? Will it work? Is it safe? First time canning pear preserves... Thanks so much!
mytwomonkeys
No, I would not do that. Are your lids metal? You can't put metal in the microwave, it is so dangerous. Aside from that though, a microwave can't emulate the same effect as my pressure canner. You need the pressure for a proper seal. Even if you are just water bath canning, I still wouldn't do it. Just eat them this week & enjoy! :)
LucyStoner
If it doesn't seal you can reprocess it. You can not process it in the microwave. Use a new lid and just reprocess that one jar. If that is too much hassle for 1 jar, eat the contents in the next week or so. And keep the jar in the fridge.
