City Mouse
A friend of mine gave me her Barton levels 1&2 that I am getting ready to start using with my DS. Has anyone tried using the Barton Tiles app on the iPad? It looks good, but I am wondering if it is worth the $29 per level.
Guest Fritzhousehold
Personally speaking as a Barton tutor, I would not advise using the app with Book 1 & 2. In the early books the kids really need that sensory experience, to touch and move the tiles, and the app just isn't quite the same. It is a great way to keep multiple students organized and you can travel light though. Hope that helps!
Julie of KY
I definitely would not buy the app for levels 1 and 2. Level 3 I probably wouldn't bother but it is tempting. I would buy it for levels 4 and up. I am using the app right now for one child in level 7 and I am using tiles for level 2 currently. Starting with level 4, the tiles become much more cumbersome. Lecka
Iirc Barton Level 1 does not have letter tiles, it has little colored blocks. My son is one who needed a nice manipulative that felt good to him. I didn't believe it would make such a difference, but it did.
City Mouse
Thanks for the input. I will hold off on the app until we get further along. We did the first lesson today and DS said he likes having the tiles because it seems more like a game that way.
