pjssully
Hi, We need to finish our Ancient History study next year and need to focus on Rome. I have story of the Romans, which I may use. But I am looking for others books, map programs, artists, or even a simple outline. Really ANYTHING would be great! I figure we will take about 10 weeks and then move into the middle ages-but that's another story!! THANKS So Much!! pam Forgot to mention this is for sixth grade. redsquirrel
I bought the Oxford The World In Ancient Times book on Rome. It was pretty good. http://www.amazon.com/The-Ancient-Roman-World-Times/dp/0195153804/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1372735518&sr=8-1&keywords=Oxford+the+world+in+ancient+times+rome I bought it used and was very happy. It is part of a much larger set but I only bought some of them.
Penguin
Here are a few for you: City: A Story of Roman Planning and Construction by David Macaulay Cleopatra by Diane Stanley Shapeshifters: Tales from Ovid's Metamorphoses by Adrian Mitchell In Search of a Homeland: The Story of the Aeneid by Penelope Lively Galen and the Gateway to Medicine by Jeanne Bendick Detectives in Togas by Henry Winterfeld (sequel is Mystery of the Roman Ransom) Bronze Bow by Elizabeth Speare I think that these two would be higher reading level than those above: A Roman Map Workbook Bolchazy - coordinates with Latin for the New Millennium. I am not sure how closely the book is tied to Latin. The Classical Roman Reader from OUP, used by Connect the Thoughts.
Walking-Iris
My ds was frustrated with SOTW, but he enjoyed reading Augustus Caesar's World by Genevieve Foster. It's a bit quaint since it's an older book, but it was fun.
