Brilliant
My newly graduated 17yo ds is looking for a job. If he wants to apply at a chain which has online applications, is that the best way to do it? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but it seems like showing up in person and asking for the manager might be the best bet. Or maybe do the online application, and a couple of days later call or go in to talk to the manager? Help! What has worked for your teen? Carolyn in Ohio
Do the online application, and a few days later call, explain you applied online, and ask if they are still hiring. This is the only way my daughter got any interviews. She just got a job this morning :) Carolyn

I'll suggest that he make calls the end of this week.
anne1456
My kids had good luck showing up in person and explaining they filled out the app, and asking to talk to the manager. My daughter even went back multiple times since the manager was in a meeting the first time. They didn't really want to go in person, but we pushed them to, and it resulted in interviews and jobs quickly. Their friends are just filling out applications online and complaining no one is hiring.
Lizzie in Ma
Echoing here, filling out the online application and following up in person and via phone. DD was hired within 2 weeks of applying at our local garden store.
