Has Anyone Had Any Experience with "Behold and See" ?

I have purchased the book on recommendations of Cathy Duffy, looking over the sample PDF's and people who love CHC's products. I liked the scope and sequence and Melissa loved that it was full color.

It is on the way and I'm wondering if anyone has used this series. We will be using the 5th grade book.

My questions:

1. Is the work book necessary/recommended/fun/useful?

2. Are there tests included if you are not enrolled with them to get the lesson plans?

3. Are the experiments complicated? Do you need to buy some kind of science kit?

I haven't used it but I'm very interested in it and will probably switch to it at some point. From my research, yes you'll want the workbook. Not sure on the tests. The experiments are included in a separate section and the book will tell you when to do each. You don't need to buy a kit but you will need to gather things from around the house.

I like that the experiments will use things I can find around the house. The last book we used really needed a supply list because I don't typically keep certain things on hand. LOL

I had the grade 6 book. The only reason we didn't keep it is because Autumn decided she wanted to concentrate on one field at a time. I loved the book though, and plan to use the entire series with my younger boys.

No tests, that I'm aware of. Yes, I think the workbook component is necessary. No, the experiments aren't complicated at all - if I recall, most (if not all) are using items you have around the house or can buy easily, locally.

You can't "enroll" in CHC - they do offer lesson plans, but no enrollment like Seton.
