ariana01
I am quite a newbie when it comes to homeschooling and I decided to buy Bob Jones writing and grammar for language arts, but is this enough for language arts? And if you use or have used bju how do you feel about it? Thanks a lot Nathalie
Ellie
"Language arts" includes not only grammar and composition but everything related to language skills: spelling, vocabulary, reading/literature, even penmanship. BJUP's grammar/comp is pretty good; I wouldn't feel the need to add anything to those. You'll want to think about reading, although you don't need vocabulary-controlled basal readers or workbooks; a variety of good trade books (books you'd find at the library) that your dc will read, plus some that you might read aloud, are fine. Some people like to use the book report forms from the Love to Learn Place. Whether your dc needs additional spelling or not is up to you; BJUP's spelling series is pretty good (it helps to have the TM for that).
