web site update tutorial

Hi, I have a job interview in 3 days and I think it would be useful to have some generic idea how people go about putting info onto a website.

If anyone knows of an on-line tutorial or something, I would really appreciate it.

I haven't said I know how and I know there are a lot of differences but a completely blank look is never a good thing.

Thanks

If that's the extent of what you would be doing, it's fairly simple.

Here's a quick rundown of what those types of updates generally entail:

  • log into the website's control panel (this is generally done through your web host - like GoDaddy, HostGator, etc.)
  • access the website within the control panel
  • click on the web page you want to update
  • make your edits - which may or may not involve using HTML (depending on the programming and content management system used - some are as simple as updating a Word document, and others are a bit more complex)
  • save your edits
  • push the updated version of the website to the web (which is generally as easy as clicking a "push update" button in the control panel)

HTH!
