Elinor Everywhere
I have a friend asking for book advice - and where better to come? She wants a non-fiction book that chronologically covers all the kings/queens of England. My first thought was Churchill's "A History of the English-Speaking Peoples", but what else would fit the criteria? Thanks, Hive!
TCB
Depends on which age group - we've read and enjoyed Our Island Story by HE Marshall, which is geared towards elementary children, I think, but we've all enjoyed it.
Elinor Everywhere
Oh yeah, sorry about that. This is for her personal reading, not for kids. She doesn't homeschool.
Elinor Everywhere
And we read Our Island Story, too, and enjoyed it. I have it someplace and could lend it to her, which is a plus.
Paula in PA
I don't know if this would work, but it's what we use: The Kings and Queens of England. It covers from Alfred the Great to Elizabeth II. Each of them has a least a page, even the very minor ones who didn't rule long.
MtnMama
I have this one: http://www.amazon.com/Lives-Queens-England-Revised-Updated/dp/0520224604/ref=pd_sim_b_1

Sigh - perhaps I should clean out my bookshelves so I know what I have!
