Cheryl B in VA
I am the president of a homeschool support group and at a meeting tonight I spoke with a new homeschooler looking for a government and econ study for her 8th grader. I was stumped because most of the time this is covered while studying U.S. History or as a separate subject in high school. Because this is his first year at home, her son knows that his friends are learning government and econ and he does not want to miss anything that they are learning. Any suggestions on a pick-up-and-go curriculum for this age? Thanks! Cheryl

curlylocks
Notgrass has a new middle school program called "Uncle Sam and You" which would cover the government part... Haven't found an economics program I like for that age...
mom31257
I plan to use Money Matters, Comix Economix, and possibly something by Dave Ramsey over the next couple of years for Economics. Ds will only be 5th and 6th, though. For government, I have a basic textbook by Steck Vaughn, American Government, that looks like it is for upper elementary or middle school. SunnyDays
Notgrass has a new middle school program called "Uncle Sam and You" which would cover the government part... Haven't found an economics program I like for that age... I downloaded the sample of "Uncle Sam and You" and I like the look of it. We may end up using this at some point. http://www.notgrass.com/notgrass/Learn-About-Uncle-Sam-and-You/
