MAIMOM
We will be reading Homer's Odyssey after Christmas break. We will be using Norton's Anthology. I am thinking we might enjoy something to spice it up. Any ideas or words of wisdom to make this interesting and fun? Also is there a version for my 6th grader? Belacqua
For a younger reader, Kingfisher's version of Odyssey is quite good (they also have a version of Iliad). There are lots of examples of art inspired by Odyssey; that might be fun to look at. And maybe an excerpt from Ulysses?
Candid
One of the best things to do is for you to listen to Vandiver's lectures on the Odyssey from the teaching company. You'll get a lot more out of it.

bugs
We used A Children's Homer which has the Illiad and Odyssey wrapped up in one when my kids were middle school age.
MAIMOM
Oh thanks. I am looking forward to this. I have not heard Prof Vandiver. I will have to look into that as well. Something we can listen to sounds wonderful. Could this be DL onto a kindle fire or ipad? These will be Christmas gifts so I am unfamiliar with what we can do. You can buy the download version of teaching company lectures and they are the cheapest way you can get them. I do this. The downside is you can't resell downloads. flyingiguana
A lot of libraries have the Vandiver lectures. Try interlibrary loan if your local library doesn't have it.
