sbgrace
Is Phonics Road truly all I need for composition and grammar? I feel like we're not writing much. I keep telling myself we're just in a different scope/sequence. But as I watch PS kids particularly I'm feeling uncertain. Do I need to add something more for writing/composition? Cindyz
We don't use this as our only writing curriculum. We are in the middle of phonics road 2, and while there is a lot of grammar, the amount of writing instruction has been very small. It's mostly copywork and dictation only so far. There has been a small amount of outline instruction via the lit study.
sbgrace
We're in PR2. That's what is concerning me. I just feel we're doing almost no writing.
Cindyz
We use WWE and soon I'll be getting IEW. I'm not sure about continuing with PR3 at this point considering how much I have to add. I don't enjoy the lit study so far in PR2, and I honestly don't think it's very good. I really wanted to go all the way with the program and on into the Latin Road, but I'm just not sure at this point. I think the spelling and grammar portions are beyond excellent. So, hmm.... lol! melmichigan
I add to the writing and literature, but I love the spelling and grammar.
WIS0320
After some bumps, we are switching back to PR2. I started the year using various other programs because I thought my 7 year old was not ready for the level of work in PR2 and what we've gotten is lack of retention and stress, none of which are the programs I chose fault. My 7 year old is dyslexic and needs the incremental style of PR along with the drill. I agree about the lit study, we are going to use Memoria Press's lit guide for Little House in the Big Woods, which looks good to me and we are going to add Brave Writer to the mix. Wish me luck!
