Grace is Sufficient
I'm helping a young friend with the college process as her family is basically dysfunctional and can't/won't help at all. She said apps have to be in before Thanksgiving -- I thought I remembered that as desirable, but not necessary... Anyone here certain about it? (FYI, we're talking state schools, not Ivies!) TIA! creekland
When an application is due varies by the school. For many, the deadline isn't until Dec, Jan, or Feb. Some have no deadlines (these generally don't fill their enrollment capacity). HOWEVER, the deadlines for any aid can differ. For many rolling admissions schools (this includes many state schools), the sooner the better for chances at merit aid. It gets harder to get for those who apply later even if within the official deadline. When in doubt, call the school and ask or check their website. regentrude
Look at the specific school's website. Our local state uni has a December 1 deadline if you want merit aid, but the deadline for applying for next fall is July 1st :tongue_smilie:

Definitely check the website of each college for official deadlines. Brenda

Grace is Sufficient
I hadn't considered that the deadline might be imposed by the Guidance Department... I'm not at all familiar with the process of doing this for a non-homeschooled student.
Nan in Mass
Some programs fill up, also, so although the deadline is Feb., the program fills before Christmas. The guidance department may know that this is true of these particular state schools. Nan
Melissa B
I would check with each school before applying. Our local state university requires freshman applications by November 1st, after that your status becomes space-available only and your acceptance notification is automatically pushed back to March or April.
