freesia
Hi, I have the Middle School Sentence Composing Book that I am using with my seventh grader. I am thinking ahead to next year and my dd. She will be in fifth grade. How does the MS book differ from the Elementary book? Different passages? Smaller Scope? TIA,
Crimson Wife
I can't speak to the SC books but I have both Story Grammar for Elementary and Grammar for Middle School. The exercises are fairly similar in challenge level. SG does not use the proper grammatical terminology but rather calls the sentence tools things like "openers", "S-V splits", and "closers". G4MS uses the proper terminology. The other major difference is the types of books that the model sentences are drawn from. SG uses books aimed at a late elementary audience like Narnia. G4MS uses some more mature books like those by Stephen King and Michael Crichton. The sentences themselves are completely innocuous BTW.
