We have decided to go with the new 3DSi XL this xmas and get the Wii U either for ds's bday next May or xmas next year. It looks cool though. :)

Thanks. We are doing the 3DS XL this Christmas too, not too bad a price when you trade in the 3DS.

So it will take the place of the Wii...right? We wait till after Christmas also once more games we want come out for it.

Yes, the new Wii U will take the place of the Wii. A great video to watch, if you have time, is from the game conference where Nintendo debuted the Wii U; it really explains what the new system is all about.
