MrsBanjoClown
We are studying forms of energy. DS7 wants to know what form of energy a steam train uses. Would it be heat energy? Edited September 4, 2012 by jpope
regentrude
Heat energy that is converted into mechanical energy. A steam train does not use electrical energy. That's why they had them before electrical trains.
MrsH
I think (but am open to correction!) that in BFSU terms the stored energy would be released from the fuel (coal?). That energy is released as mostly heat and a bit of light energy, which heats the steam, converting it into movement/mechanical energy. This website seemed like a pretty thorough explanation! http://sciencewithme.com/learn-about-steam-engines/
