praisefor3
that ds5th could read this summer? I really don't want to do a whole unit on this as it doesn't "fit" with my plans. However, I also don't want to miss this opportunity for him to learn about the process "live." Any suggestions on factual books that a 5th grade boy might enjoy? Margo out of lurking
I'm not exactly helpful, but I *know* I've seen a book that looks good at my library. My ds is also going into 5th, and from what I saw, I thought that it would appeal to him. I'm unable to find the book on their computer system, but I will TRY to remember to look on Monday or Tuesday. :)
Sue G in PA
Try this link: http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=39916&highlight=election+books I asked a similar question a few weeks ago. I think there are quite a few good recommendations in there for books for that grade level. HTH

stephanie
I just bought a workbook at our local homeschool store that's titled How to Be President of The USA. It's by Monday Morning. It's fun activities and facts that allow the child to pretend like they are running for Pres.,and they have to go through the steps in order to do that. It's ages 8 and up, but I'm using it for my dc which are 6-13. HTH

Margo out of lurking
Okay, the one I was thinking of is Eileen Christelow's Vote. It looked too basic for what you want. But America Votes: How Our President Is Elected by Linda Granfield looked like it would work at my house. My library has it; and if my *small* town library has it, chances are yours will too, lol. (Or you could ILL it.) :001_smile:
