Michelle T
Does anyone else pick and choose which chapters to read in SOTW? I am leaving out probably around 1/3 of the chapters, and just concentrating on those that are most "important" for this go-around of world history. The complete SOTW books have so much information, they are too overwhelming for DS, and then he retains nothing. Anyone else just do the "highlights" of each volume? Beth in Central TX
Yes, I do this. I choose 36 of the 42 chapters to study during a school year since we only have 36 weeks in our school year. This allows me to focus on one chapter a week for SOTW I & II. For SOTW III & IV I only pick 30 to 34 chapters because there are a few "important" chapters that I like to spend 2 weeks on. In general I only spend 1 week per chapter so that we can go through all 4 cycles in 4 years during the grammar stage. I plan to flesh out more of the material during the logic and rhetoric years. Chris in VA
I skipped a couple of the Asian chapters, because we were behind and I knew we'd get caught up later. In general, tho, I like to read the whole thing.
ldee
If I am behind, we will read it but do none of the activity sheets or projects.
