Parker Martin
I think I read that suggestion in the Circe thread. We listened to a dramatized, unabridged version of Pilgrim's Progress, and I immediately saw a huge leap in comprehension when reading other stories. Plus, my sons loved it. That suggestion is a keeper.
TKDmom
Do you have a link to the version you found? I've been putting off PP as a part of AO, and this sounds like a good idea.
Parker Martin
I bought this one: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0890514496/ We're listening through it again in the car at the kids' request.

Mystie
We're currently using an unabridged Blackstone audio version of PP and loving it! The audio book is so much better than me attempting to read it out loud, and then we can claim times like car trips or lunch time. I just wrote about http://reading Pilgrim's Progress in our homeschool, and why I like the audio version so much better.
crazyforlatin
Here's a free version. I like the reader's voice and accent, but I don't know whether it's abridged. I haven't decided whether to buy the one linked by Parker or just download Audible version read by Robert Whitfield, but I was thinking of just having DD listened to the first, free mp3 to see what happens. Maybe it's best to have a child read along?
Parker Martin
I think having a dramatized version with different voices and sound effects was good for us because it provided so many clues to understanding the language. Now that they're used to that kind of language, I'm finding that I can do much more challenging read alouds with them.
